As general counsel, Mark is responsible for managing legal, compliance, government relations and risk affairs. Before joining Arete, Mark served as managing general counsel and assistant corporate secretary for a multi-billion-dollar regional property and casualty insurance company and financial savings bank. In that role, he managed legal operations and oversaw enterprise matters involving corporate litigation, intellectual property, data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory governance. Mark also previously served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Summit County, Ohio, where he prosecuted elder abuse cases and litigated civil matters involving the county and its elected officials.
