As Senior Vice President for Public Sector at Arete, Geoff draws on his background as an intelligence and security leader to develop, tailor, and lead the company’s strategy and capabilities to serve the cybersecurity missions of the public sector.
Prior to Arete, Geoff was with Recorded Future, the world’s largest commercial intelligence provider, and led efforts to deliver the company’s premier intelligence and cloud offering to global governments.
Geoff built the centralized cybersecurity program for the City of New York as NYC’s CISO and the founding Director and Head of NYC Cyber Command from 2016 to 2021. This first-of-its-kind agency was charged with consolidating and leading the City’s enterprise cybersecurity strategy, setting Citywide cybersecurity policies, directing response to cyber incidents, and rationalizing the City’s cybersecurity spend and cyber defense technology footprint.
Geoff was previously a member of the 9/11 Commission. He is a member of Aspen Institute’s U.S. Cybersecurity Group and teaches intelligence and cybersecurity at the Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies Department at the Middlebury Institute for International Studies in Monterey.
